RU-FI University of Florence – Department of Agrifood Production and Environmental Sciences

    The mission of RU-FI in WP3 is to evaluate morpho-physiological and biochemical traits involved in the adaptation to climate change in some oak species, grown in environmental conditions simulating some 2050 scenarios for global change in Mediterranean areas. Temperature, CO2 levels, water content of the substrate will be the variables which will be properly manipulated. To do that, some biodomes will be realised, which will allow the fine manipulation of climatic and atmospheric parameters. Afterwards, the plant material will be processed for several kinds of analyses: morpho-anatomy, ultrastructure, physiology (water relationships, osmotic adjustment, gas exchange, photosynthesis and fluorescence, dark respiration, A/C curves). These investigations will also be freely supported by some partner (FEM, Trento, Italy; Centro de Estudios Ambientales del Mediterraneo, Barcelona, Spain; Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, Frankfurt, Germany).
